Wow, no updates in a while…

Well, it’s been a rough few weeks. On my side, I’m in a mad scramble earning paychex to get ready for a vacation in Myrtle Beach, and The Lonely Geek has been feeling a little under the weather lately. Nothing serious, at least nothing that needs to be discussed here, anyway. But rest assured, BOTH [...]

As I was looking around, I found this nice writeup on the LIFE site on Japanese Robotics.  I thought you all might like to see the pictures as well.  I personally like the HRP-2 which is shown near the end.  Have fun and a great day! Japanese Robotics: See the Future – Photo Gallery, 29 [...]

I think I’m turning Japanese…

Now, I’ve always been an American Muscle kind of guy (even though about 95% of the “American” cars and trucks are made OUTSIDE of the U.S., great way to keep red-blooded Americans employed there, jerks!!!), but I actually broke down and bought a more-gas-efficient car. Researchers from Toyota and Tohuku University say that they can achieve these results in the next 10 years.  Existing batteries contain graphite and polycrystal litium cobolt oxide, the graphite improves the performance of the battery but also requires space that could be used for storage.  Their idea is to develop a cathode with no graphite [...]

Another Remake from Holywood – Wondering if they have any original thoughts there now?

Now don’t get me wrong.  I love my Sci-Fi.. But, I really would prefer something new.  There is just no need to keep doing re-makes of old shows or movies all the time.  The latest remake is BattleStar Galactica.   This will not be based on the latest TV Series, but rather it will be based [...]

Quick Charging Batteries from Sony

Sony announced a new type of lithium ion battery today that recharges up to 99% in 30 minutes, and lasts 4x longer than the typical rechargeable batteries.  And even after 2000 charge-cycles they maintain up to 80% of their ability to retain a charge.  Not bad Sony.  Sadly, these are available only for Power Tools [...]
